Press Releases

The Aleut Family of Companies began with the formation of Aleut Management Services (AMS) in late 2004. AMS was originally staffed using employees of SMI International and TekStar, then sister companies owned by The Aleut Corporation (TAC) headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon the formation of AMS, SMI International and TekStar, now known as Aleut Global Solutions (AGS), became a wholly owned subsidiary of AMS. Shortly thereafter, AMS created five (5) new companies, Aleut Global Solutions (AGS), Aleut Communications Services (ACS), Aleut Facilities Support Services (AFSS), Aleut Technologies (AT), and Aleut Northwest Services (ANWS) . Each of these companies was created to focus on specific DoD and Federal Government market segments.

Aleut is a family of companies with large and diverse reach-back capabilities providing IT, communications, base operations support, and a variety of other services to government agencies. We collectively offer strategic partnerships to our customers through Alaskan Native Corporation benefits and advantages. Our customers proven experience, rapid transition processes; direct access to our top-level decision makers; and a history of exceptional, long-term performance.

The initiative behind the creation of AMS was simple. Aleut wanted a holding company with the overarching mission of....
"... providing quality based customer service for all administrative processes to our subsidiary companies. The service will be driven by the needs and expectations of our subsidiary companies and their government customers.  This will allow our subsidiary companies to focus on exceeding customer expectations and ensuring mission accomplishments, thus helping to improve the lives of our Aleut Shareholders."

13 Regions of Alaska

The Aleut Corporation was established in 1972 under the terms of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). This legislation provided land settlements and cash settlements to the 13 ANCSA Regional corporations formed under this act.
The Aleut Corporation received a settlement of $19.5 million, and was entitled to 66,000 acres of surface land and 1.572 million acres of subsurface estate. Voting stock shares were issued to 3,249 shareholders.

Most of the Corporation's ANCSA land selections are on the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian, Shumagin and Pribilof Islands, situated between Port Moller on the Alaska Peninsula and the western tip of Atka Island. The Corporation owns the village site at Attu as well as numerous historical and cemetery sites between Atka and the Attu islands.
